Announcement of by-elections to the Academic Senate of the MUNI Faculty of Science in voting district Biology

Dear colleagues, members of the Faculty of Science of Masaryk University,

in accordance with the Election Rules of the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Science of the MU (hereinafter referred to as the "Election Rules"), I hereby announce the by-elections in electoral district Biology to the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Science of the MU (hereinafter referred to as the "Senate") for the residuum of electoral term from September 1st, 2023, to August 31st, 2026. The reason for the by-elections is vacancy (Dr. Milan Baláž left the Senate) without any reserve candidate. I also announce this schedule of tasks and deadlines:

• 9 September 2024: publication of the election announcement in the E-voting application of the Information System of the Masaryk University E-votes (hereinafter referred to as the "Application") and on the website of the Faculty of Science of the MU.
• no later than 16 September 2024 (inclusive): generation of non-public name list of all members of voting district Biology through the Application.
• from 16 September 2024 to 6 October 2024 (inclusive): acceptance of candidacies by the Election and Mandate Committee of the Senate (according to Article 9 of the Election Rules)
• no later than 8 October 2024, but no earlier than 7 October 2024: publication of election programs and declarations of candidates in the Application. Establishment of a discussion forum with candidates within IS MU.
• from 16 October 2024 to 27 October 2024 (inclusive): voting (according to Article 11 of the Electoral Rules) via the Application.

Candidacies can be entered via the E-votes IS application only. Confirmation and acceptance of the candidacies is done by e-mail notification via the Application from the Election and Mandate Committee.

Elections are organized and managed in accordance with the electoral rules by the Election and Mandate Committee of the Senate. For communication with this committee, use only electronic mail sent through the Information System of Masaryk University to the e-mail address volebni.komise@sci.muni.cz (Article 1, paragraph 3 of the Election Rules).

I believe that those of you in electoral district Biology will use this opportunity to exercise their right to influence the future direction of our faculty, either by their own candidacy or by electing their representatives in the highest representative body of the faculty's academic self-government.
