The proposed grant project continues in pursuing the theme of dissertation thesis of the proposer which has devoted to elucidate and clarify the role of causation in explanation (Causal Aspects of Explanation). From the broader point of view this project extends the research activities of Department of Philosophy which are focused on epistemological problems (grant project Gnoseology on the begin of 21. century). The aim of this project is to deepen and enlarge this research and to deal with the problem of causation from the systematic point of wiew. The inquiry will be developed from two main perspectives: to examine and consider various approaches and conceptions of explanation and to specify pragmatic and non-pragmatic aspects of explanation. Special attention will be paid to analysis such types of determination, in which the satisfactory explanation can be found. The main output of the grant will be a monograph.
