The project aims to advance the technique of time-correlated single-photon counting for optical emission spectroscopy of nanosecond plasmas. Limiting factors of the technique, the statistical character of the signal or the insufficient time resolution, will be revised theoretically and experimentally. Using advanced signal detection and data processing, its true sensitivity will be improved and the time resolution will be enhanced to a far sub-nanosecond scale, for the first time in the field.
